Travel to China – Beijing – Part One

Welcome to Beijing, the first stop of a trip to China I made last winter. I had already been in the Chinese capital, a constantly evolving metropolis, especially from the urbanistic point of view, so that every time it is a new discovery.

The contrast with the futuristic contemporary architectures exalts more than ever the charm of the Forbidden City, destination every day of thousands of visitors, and the Summer Palace, a complex of pavilions and pagodas that rises on the shore of a lake, which in the cold season assumes an aspect to say little surreal. Despite the polar cold of those days, I did not want to give up the classic excursion to the Great Wall in Badaling, which I recommend because not far from the city, although it is one of the most frequented points of visit by tourists.

Don't miss a tour around the hutongs of the old town, labyrinth of alleys and squares in the vicinity of the Campana Tower, where daily life seems to flow in slow motion. An experience to try absolutely before these corners of old Beijing disappear forever to make room for new and more modern neighborhoods. The same goes for the characteristic Shichahai area, which is full of local shops and is perfect for a walk by night.
