Senigallia velvet beach
"A roundabout on the sea..." sang Fred Bongusto many years ago. There is to be bet that it refers to the Rotonda a Mare that is still the tourist symbol of Senigallia sea and its velvet beach, top destination for carefree holidays between sun, sea, good food, romantic evenings and a pinch of culture, which never spoils.
Nothing to do with the forced entertainment of other places in the Adriatic Riviera. Here the atmosphere is definitely soft, just like the sand of the legendary velvet beach, 14 kilometers of sandstone on which the ambite Blue Flag, guarantee of quality of waters and a virtuous environmental management.
At Senigallia sea is already ready, indeed very ready, for the summer season that is about to begin, to the face of the flood that less than a month ago had threatened to compromise its regular start.
As you will surely remember, on 3 May last in a few minutes a water bomb has spilled over on the town of Marche, flooding houses, roads, hotels and restaurants, pouring out on the waterfront.
So much fear and enormous damage, but the Senigalliesis did not lose heart, indeed they wrapped up their sleeves in a generous moment of solidarity to help those affected by the tragedy. Armed with brooms, blades, racks and brushes, they cleared the debris, cleaned and whitened where needed.
Reaching within a few days to make a real miracle, erasing every trace of the disaster, as I could personally verify during the recent blogtour #Ilovesenigallia organized by Marche Turismo in collaboration with TBNet.
Complete summer temperatures, not even to do so on purpose, during our stay from 23 to 26 May a real general test of the upcoming tourist season, with clubs, bathing establishments and Hotel Senigallia fully operational to welcome visitors.
That they didn't wait, despite the election weekend. In short, the season seems great and here is then some useful advice to better organize a stay in Senigallia sea.

Enjoy the prestigious sparkling wines of Conti di Buscareto (but also with Moet&Chandon champagne and much more), at the Buco 14, a bathroom with a très chic atmosphere, just inaugurated right next to the Rotonda a Mare and already among the coolest of Senigallia sea, location is perfect for parties and DJ sets on the beach. Not at all the management is the same as the elegant Hotel Terrazza Marconi.
Needless to say that almost all plants are equipped with Wi-Fi and to be always updated in real time on all events held in beach Senigallia during the summer, just keep an eye on the Facebook pages of the various bathrooms.
Visit Senigallia by bike or boat
The delicious historical center of Senigallia is located right next to the beaches and is therefore easily reachable on foot or by bike. Some Hotels in Senigallia, e.g. City hotels, where we stayed, put free bike guests for relaxing pedals.
Obviously we took advantage of it immediately for a walk on the seafront at sunset until the port, just in time to witness the return of a fishing boat.
It also stops at the mouth of the river Misa, to see the characteristics square networks still used for fishing with the scale, technique that allows some restaurants in the area, such as the mythical Ulysses, to have fish always fresh.
And about fish, how about a fishing line off? If the idea attracts you, you can sail from port of Senigallia aboard theWaterfall Boat, a motorboat perfectly equipped for fishing and sailing in the high sea, which can be rented with skipper for half or a whole day at sea.
If you want, you can also make excursions to the Natural Park of Conero, with stops in secluded coves for a dip in the sea, or north, to the Natural Park of San Bartolo.
We opted for a quiet morning trip along the coast, in the company of Christian Ramazzotti, the owner, to admire Senigallia and the famous velvet beach from a different perspective. The day was magnificent and the clean and transparent sea, sign that the Blue Flag is more than deserved.
In addition to a pleasure boat, Acquapazza is also an animated lido on the Mameli waterfront and a establishment with pool, restaurant and bar, in practice an oasis of relaxation a few steps from the Senigallia beach.
Senigallia what to see around
Just get away a few kilometers from the coast and the blue of the sea gives way to the intense green of the Marche hinterland. This is where the Via del Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi, an itinerary between sweet cellars and hills, combed by vineyards that produce a white wine already appreciated in the Middle Ages.
When the fortified villages stood at the top of the hills to defend the powerful farm of Jesi.
Like Morro d’Alba, a charming village-castello that also gives its name to one of the most renowned wines of the region, the Lacrima di Morro d’Alba Doc, in fact. The many wineries of the area will welcome you with open arms for a comme-il-faut tasting and to tell you their passion for this land and its vines.
Do as we do, stop at Wine cellar Midnight by Bettoelle di Senigallia, where Lorenzo Mezzanotte, after offering us a glass of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi, accompanied us in the vineyard, to show us with pride the vines that care as they were child, manually performing the various stages of processing, so that the grapes mature strong and healthy. 
Then continue towards Ostra, where in Frazione Pianello, immersed in a landscape to say little bucolic of fields and vineyards, welcomes you the Winery Buscareto Accounts, among the top wineries of the area, which marries tradition and innovation, also coming to vinify Verdicchio and lacrima in a sparkling version.
And successfully, so much so that with his Rosé Brut he won the Le Marche Award in the Glass 2014.
