Among the pavilions that struck me most during my last visit to Expo 2015 there is definitely that of Czech Republic. To attract my attention, I must admit, it was the large outdoor pool, right on the edge of Decumano, the main avenue of Expo, which I imagine will soon be stormed with the approach of summer.
And no, they explained to me that safety regulations and hygienic norms do not allow it but, thanks also to the poolside bar where you can rest with a mouth of the famous Czech beer Pilsner Urquell, it is easy to predict the success of this open space in the warm summer ofExpo 2015.
To welcome you to First floor found the Laboratory of Silence, permanent exhibition inspired by a competition between art schools, design and architecture in Czech Republic, which recreates Expo2015 a mixed forest of living plants and vegetation, representing the entire Czech biotope and wishing to highlight to the public the magic and at the same time fragility of the environmental system.
The exhibition aims to be a fantastic interactive experience, thanks to the installation of special robotic cameras capable of interacting with the visitor and projecting on a large undulating wall live images of the individual plant specimens, up to reveal even the smallest details and secrets.
Always on the first floor, on the opposite side of the Czech forest, a space for temporary exhibitions, equipped with some modules ready from high design, available to artists who will start here every fifteen days to propose, in their own way, the different regions and the many faces of the Czech Republic-Paese of the thousand stories, which is then the slogan of the current tourism promotion campaign of Czech Tourism, the Czech tourism agency.
On the second floor the Laboratory of Life, where the decisive role of man is played in the study and interpretation of nature itself. Subject to the exhibition, the genetic codes of plants used in agriculture (from wheat onwards) whose decoding is due to Czech scientists, who with their discoveries made an invaluable gift to the world and who could not therefore be celebrated within a universal exhibition whose theme is "nourish the planet”.
On the walls there are large reliefs that symbolize these codes, in unusual installations between the scientific and the artist signed by Federico Diaz. On the ceiling, thanks to a suspended multimedia installation made of plexiglass and wood and animated by projections – work by Jakub Nepras – the artistic symbolization of the cell and biological processes is staged. There is also a low-energy scientific research laboratory in Block, where you can try to fall into the role of the scientist.
And after the peel of art, science and culture, here is the Hunter's Bay, restaurant vip of the pavilion with terrace, where you can finally make a peel of traditional Czech cuisine based mainly on game and game.
For a relaxing break, then reach the garden roof, the hanging garden of aromatic and spontaneous herbs, provided with benches for a stop with a view ofExpo, where of course can not miss bushes of hops, basic ingredient of beer. Here he found a work by Jakub Nepras, an asteroid symbol of the saved planet, inside which he sighted rare animals or at risk of extinction. It was wanted by the Prague Zoo as part of an awareness-raising project against man’s senseless and unscrupulous behaviour towards the animal world.
There will be many unmissable appointments in the Cechia house. Throughout the duration of the Universal Exhibition will alternate regional festivals, cultural events, celebrations of historical anniversaries, folklore demonstrations, tastings, activities and workshops for children. During the 6 months of Expo, then, the Czech Republic will enthusiastically launch interesting programs, such as the Science Days? Water Days (July) and Design Days (August).
