During my weekend in Puglia I did the "christening of the trullo", that is, I slept for the first time in these typical farm houses from the roof to cone and I must say that it was decidedly suggestive. In fact I stayed at Masseria Ancella immersed in the countryside of Montalbano di Fasano, a short distance from Ostuni.
Set in an ancient mail station dating back to the 18th century, it has been recently renovated and transformed into a welcoming Charming resort with about ten different rooms, two of which are made in typical trulli very comfortable. If you prefer this type of accommodation, remember to specify it at the time of booking, because they are very required.
Surrounded by a garden where the pool, the Masseria Ancella preserves the atmosphere of a private house, with furniture and peasant objects of the time scattered in the large hall and in the rooms. What distinguishes it from the countless farms in the area is Spa dedicated to Vinotherapy, Il Paradiso dell’Ancella, between wellness centres in Puglia to use cosmetic products derived from grapes.
An innovative face and body line is used for treatments based on polyphenols concentrated extracted from the typical Apulian grapes of Primitivo and Negramaro, from the extraordinary antioxidant and nourishment properties for the skin.
To stay on the subject, it is no coincidence that the Spa is made in an underground cave and the cabins have the appearance and form of huge wine barrels. Of course there is no shortage of a large wooden tinozza in which to make a revitalizing bath in wine (tranquilli, is abundantly diluted with hot water) sipping a glass of red wine, part of the Treatment of Pairs which also includes a regenerating scrub with the Negramaro must.
But I tried Treatment of Uve Extract, a draining and relaxing massage lasting about an hour, which was exactly what I needed at the end of a week to say little hectic. Gianna, my masseuse, used a grape extract oil and wine, with moisturizing and antioxidant properties, which first heated and then distributed throughout the body. And at the end, instead of the classic herbal tea, I was offered a glass of red meditation wine.
Other treatments available are Scrub at Vinaccioli, a revitalizing peel to the Negramaro; the exfoliating mask of Bacchus, with an extraordinary anti-age effect; the Massage to the nectar of Ancella, toning, energizing and anti-age thanks to the use of plant creams based on Primitivo grapes.
