But don’t be fooled by appearances: actually, more than just a hotel, theHotel Majestic Cannes is a small universe of deluxe hospitality, where you can spend a whole weekend (and even more!) without feeling the slightest need to get away from its golden boundaries.
That's right, because here, between rooms with view, restaurants, Spa, swimming pool, private beach and boutiques of great griffe there is everything, but just everything, what you can want for a few days of well-deserved relaxation. Of course it's not cheap, but sometimes a few tricks need to get rid of it, right? And then, by booking with a certain advance, on the price comparison sites you can check out discounted rates also 30-40% on the official ones.
If you do not want to look after expenses for a special occasion or an anniversary, book one of the suites and you will also feel stars, like those who smile from the hundreds of photos that decorate salons and hallways. I was lucky to stay (for work, eh!) in 550, a hundred square meters to the eye and cross with double exposure on the garden-terrace of the hotel Majestic, the Croisette and the sea.
In short, a fabulous panorama, which ranges up to Iles de Lérins, that in the morning when I woke up I ran to admire from the bedroom terrace, to make sure it wasn't just a dream.
That is the same view that is enjoyed by the two mega-suites that occupy the upper floors, among the most luxurious not only of the hotel, but of the whole French Riviera. On the sixth floor, so just above what I occupied, to say, even if far more spacious, is the Penthouse Christian Dior (that of the opening photo), the most fashion of the Croisettes.
Furnished in the style of the famous Parisian griffe, during the Festival Cannes welcomes the stars who come to choose the evening dress before parade on the red carpet. 32.000€ at night, but you want to say you slept in the same bed as Monica Bellucci, Jude Law, Sharon Stone or Ryan Gosling?
The palace life has slow rhythms, to which it is not too hard to get used to, beginning with the sumptuous breakfast, served in summer by the pool in the garden-terrace. The dehor of the two restaurants of the hotel also overlooks here: Fouquet's Cannes, "succursale" of the famous brasserie on the Champs Elysées that uses the "tocco" of the great chef Pierre Gagnaire; and the Petite Maison de Nicole, famous instead for the Mediterranean flavors, as we had the opportunity to taste the evening of our arrival.
The menu was in fact an exquisite mix of land and sea with Salad of artichokes of Brittany; Tomatoes, burrata, basil and olive oil; Stewed vegetables in the style of Nice; Red and yellow peppers grilled with olive oil; Clutch of squid; Branzino in the oven; White chocolate mousse and raspberries. Simple dishes, which seem to come out of the kitchen and precisely for this of course tasty.
But it does not end here, because there is a third restaurant: La Plage – Majestic Barrière that, ça va sans dire, is located directly on the private beach of the hotel, the only one of Croisette where you can eat on the sand, a step from the water.
More than a traditional lido, La Plage – Majestic Barrière It is a real living room on the sea, with sun loungers and cozy day beds for moments of sweet lighthouse, which has its natural extension in the lounge space on the pier that is also the base of the nautical sports of the hotel. From here we also started for a boat trip to the Lérins Islands which is about 15 minutes away.
After sunset, however, the atmosphere changes radically and La Plage turns into the evening dance floor "Folie Douce", the coolest of the Croisette, which from the dinner-cabaret continue until the 1st at night with DJ sets under the stars in a magical atmosphere of party and fun, where champagne, let’s say, flows to rivers, in the best tradition of the French Riviera.
