Momijigari in Japan what is the so-called "red leaves" and what is the best time to admire the spectacular Japanese foliage.
As you know, I've been back a few days since mine. travel to Japan and I still have in my eyes and in my heart the images of that extraordinary country. But above all the extraordinary colors of the Japanese autumn that help me to face in good mood also the greyness of these foggy days. My stay in the village of the Rising Sun is in fact coincided with the apex of Momijigari, that is, the period of the "red leaves".
Actually, this foliage thing in jap sauce I didn't even know it, I accidentally discovered it just before travel to Tokyo, reading an article on the new site Euromaster Life. Momijigari in Japan
At this point, I know, you are rightly asking: So what is this Momijigari? It is the Japanese tradition to visit in autumn the places where the leaves become red. And considering the abundance of typical vinegars (also called momiji!) throughout the country, you can well imagine which extraordinary show every year for the joy of "Red leaf hunters”.
Think that in order to facilitate this fun and peaceful nature hunting the Japanese tourism office also publishes a detailed map with calendar to better plan the visits of parks, forests and gardens.
The phenomenon takes place in different times. It already begins in September, when in the northern island of Hokkaido the leaves of the trees begin to change color and to dye a thousand shades of purple. The coloured wave spreads throughout the country until the end of November Kyushu Island, the southernmost of Japan, which was precisely the destination of my journey.
As a region where nature is still predominant, there is no shortage of opportunities to go to "red leaves". Really unforgettable the excursion to Takachiho Gorge, in the prefecture of Hakata, a suggestive gorge with basalt walls dug over the millennia by the flow of a river, which greeted us with an explosion of colors: yellow, orange, red and green, to leave breathless for beauty.
