From rabbits to ferrets, from hamsters to hermills, from colorful parrots to monkeys, from ostriches to iguanas... to turtles, porcellini of India, salamandre and snakes. These are just a few between the most unusual animals housed in Italian hotel facilities. This is what emerges from the lastminute survey. com – online leader in booking travel and leisure ideas – who interviewed over 1000 Italian hoteliers on the habits and strangeness of customers staying with small friends.
70% of the hotel interviewed was declared pet friendly: accommodation facilities – of each category, including those with five stars – that accept four-legged friends are therefore increasing strongly compared to the past years. Hoteliers are increasingly sensitive to tourists traveling with small pets, and for this reason they are equipping to offer services dedicated to them.
If on the one hand the research highlights how in the Italian hotels surrounds particular animals – of which rabbits are for example 15% – or tropical – the iguanas follow with 'only' 5% -, on the other the dogs turn out to be in a clear majority among the four-legged friends hosted in the hotel rooms: the best friend of the man ever more often follows the master during the holidays (55%).
Unusual are also the demands of customers of hotels for the comfort of their own animal, many of which really have the original: from the master who would like to bathe the dog in the Jacuzzi of the structure, to what he asks for his pet fillet steaks, indicating the degree of cooking and asking that it is the chef to prepare them. Very popular are the cots and cots to guarantee a five-star rest, but there is no shortage of customers who explicitly ask for an extra bed on which can sleep Fido or Micio.
Not all these wishes are fulfilled, but for the most frequent and common requests the hotels have been equipped, ensuring special food and supplies (35% of the hotels), the presence of professionals such as dog sitter and veterinary (11%) and, for the structures located the seaside resort, conventions with bathing establishments that accept pets (21%).
The lastminute hotel survey. com also shows the nationality of customers staying in hotels with pets: 80% of the sample is made up of Italians, while 20% is given by foreign guests who carry their four-legged friend even during the trip to Italy. Foreigners are the most attracted by the new pet friendly orientation of Italian hotels, a trend that increases interest in our country by foreign tourism.
