With Alicante it was a lightning strike at first sight. Traveling along the sunny Costa Blanca, in Spain, literally conquered me with its coast to make envy, the beautiful beaches and a sparkling movida that lights up after sunset.

The city rises in the coastal area of Spain overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, between Capo de la Nao and Capo di Gata and owes its fame, as well as a coastline of envy, the countless castles and fortresses, testimonies of a rich history, which saw protagonists Phoenicians, Greeks, Carthaginians and Romans. The current structure of the city dates back to the arrival of the Moors, when the old town was built inside the walls of the castle, and transmits suggestions from the past.

Regina della Costa Blanca, Alicante, offers landscapes and entertainment for all tastes and ages: from intimate coves to the most lively beaches, bistros, restaurants with local food and wine proposals, trendy clubs and music-bars to the latest fashion... they make it a young destination, but also very appreciated by families and those who are no longer very young.

Not by chance, the charm of monuments – such as the Santa Bárbara Castle –, the Mediterranean style of the historic centre and the Santa Cruz district, the natural paradise of the nearby Tabarca Island accessible from the port and the famous Elche city with its palm grove declared World Heritage by UNESCO, are particularly appreciated by tourists of all ages.

Although the season is not yet summer, Alicante remains the ideal place for sportsmen while for lovers of relaxation the beaches of San Juan, Postiguet and Albufereta are the best places for a walk in peace. For green enthusiasts, there are plenty of golf courses.

Even good forks will not be left dry. My passionate advice is to taste typical rice dishes, the main ingredient of alicantini dishes: arròs amb fessols i naps (rice cooked with beans); the Chalk and band arroz, risottos cooked according to the recipes of the old sailors, usually accompanied by the other important ingredient of alicantina cuisine, fish: tuna, mackerel, cod etc. Not least are the wines and sweets such as the torrone of Alicante and the traditional sweets of Arabic origin, the almojabas (like our zeps), to lick your fingers, believe me!
