La Ciclabile del Piave is the new cycling route that winds for 220 km, starting from the Sorgenti in the province of Belluno and reaching the Adriatic sea, near Jesolo in the province of Venice.
Simbolically it is also a journey into Italian History, since it follows the course of the Sacred River to the Homeland and that it made great Venice between '400 and '500, but also the geographical place where the lands of the North meet those of the South, marking the passage from the Arctic microclimate to the Mediterranean one.
A project that arises from the desire to make the tourist interact with the peculiar aspects of the territory, allowing him to live a unique and at the same time customizable travel experience depending on the interests.
Its course has seen the dialogue of the tireless Venetian navigators with the proud nations established along the river, triggering cultural dynamics of considerable interest and developing the real economies that have combined Alpine and lagoon biodiversity over the centuries.
The cycle path of the Piave is therefore a fil rouge that combines different areas that often intersect, from historical to artistic, from anthropological to emotional, from landscape to architectonic. Without forgetting that the river also binds two sites of the WHL Unesco: the "Dolomiti" and "Venice and its Laguna". morphologically distant environments, but strongly linked from the point of view of geo-morphological genesis.
Ciclabile del Piave can be faced on foot or by bike, going up or down the watercourse, following various themes: the Museums, the Piave and the Great War, Castles Towers and Abbeys, the Affrescate Churches, the Great Capolavori del Piave, the Historical Opifici, the Villas, the landscapes of the Piave. During the course you can choose whether to include them all or part of them, in a braid that if you want to be exhaustive can arrive to protract the holiday for more than two weeks.
