If you too, like me, love to go by sea and are fascinated by the great sailing ships, with their load of history and tradition, then you cannot miss the next Tall Ships Race, the historic international regatta dedicated to the great period sailing ships, which will take place in July in the waters of the North Atlantic, along the coasts of Ireland, France, Spain and Portugal.
From 19 to 22 July Lisbon will be back to host one of the stages of the prestigious Sail Training International race, which will be attended by about 60 sailing ships and 5000 crews from 49 countries.
During the long weekend of Tall Ships Race 2012, curious, sporty and passionate about vintage yachts will be able to visit the ships in the race, participate in special entertainment shows and finally attend the final parade on Sunday 22 July. Among the models that will participate in this year’s regatta, are Brig, Bermudian Ketch, Gaff Cutter, Barquentine and many others.
Once again, the tradition of the great sailors of Portugal will live on the great sailing ships that have made the history of world navigation. Just Lisbon hosted the first edition of the Tall Ships Race, a great competition designed to bring together the last great sailing ships left in circulation, keep the tradition alive and give future generations the opportunity to develop the right navigation skills.
