Five days full of events, stories and voices of travelers who have catalysed the interest of the visitors of the Old Port, which attracted by the great tent of the SpazioIncontro Traveloilmondo also entered only by curiosity and instead found themselves catapulted in distant worlds. Fascinated by the stories and suggestions of the great travellers who alternated on stage with their luggage of experiences to tell. This was the festival Traveling the World, the kermesse around the journey we have followed live from Genoa in recent days.
Lovely the energy charge transmitted by the many protagonists of meetings and talk shows, some strangers to the general public, but that in the end seemed to know forever, because it happens so, among the people of the journey. Others, on the contrary, are definitely famous, perhaps not as travellers, but still characters always around the world for reasons related to prestigious professions.
As in the case of Gualtiero Marchesi, the most famous Italian chef in the world and founder of the "new Italian cuisine", protagonist Traveling the World of an interview with journalist Beba Marsano on the theme of the journey, in which he revealed his places of heart, that we want to share with you at the end of the Festival Traveling the World.

The favourite destination from the gastronomic point of view?
Gualtiero Marchesi: Japan and Tokyo in particular, with its spectacular fish market, where I was tasted a raw shrimp.
The soul restaurant?
G.M. The restaurant of Paolo Lopriore at the Grand Hotel in Como, a real creative that has in the blood the kitchen.
How do you choose the restaurant to eat in a city you don't know?
G.M. No guides, I go for randomness and inspiration.
The favourite dish?
G.M. Spaghetti with caviar, a dish that rehabilitates a simple ingredient like spaghetti.
The papillary encounter that touched her most?
G.M. The cod pancakes of a unique goodness eaten in a restaurant of Novi Ligure.
Do you prefer to travel to Italy or abroad?
G.M. This year I plan three trips: in Sanpietroburg to visit Hermitage, in Marrakech where I will be in a beautiful riad, and in London, my city of election.
A corner of Italy that makes her beat her heart?
G.M. In fact there are many, Urbino, San Gimignano, Assisi, the Navigli of Milan, in particular the alley of the Lavandai. And then the restaurant Ai Due Platani di Coloreto di Parma, for the pumpkin tortelli.
What are you looking for on a trip? G.M. The landscape first of all, then I look for works of art.
The ideal travel companion? G.M. A woman, always, who is caught, funny.
The ideal tablemate?
G.M. Someone with you, you know, enjoy.
The journey of life?
G.M. In Japan, where I worked for a month in the restaurant of a hotel in 1990 rooms.
The ideal place for a holiday?
G.M. I'd like to go back to my father's country, San Zenone Po, known as the cook country, where I grew up.

G.M. The carrugs in Genoa.
