I knew the Mal of Africa, that sort of malìa that affects the traveler who ventures along the streets and among the people of Africa, from which it seems never heals. All the more they can relieve the symptoms by returning more and more times to the African continent. Either way, I've never suffered, despite travelling to Africa for a long time.
I've never heard of Maldindia. Until tonight, that I had the chance to see here in Genoa at the homonymous show by Pierpaolo Di Nardo, among the most anticipated events of the Festival Traveling the World. And kidnapped by the passionate narration of this recounter traveller, I realized that at Maldindia I could also yield, one day, considered the deep passion that binds me to Asia. "...because – as the author says – once you have theIndia inside, you can no longer do without it" and if you know India you know how much truth and inelubility are enclosed in this sentence.
With images, music and personal memories, Di Nardo envelops us with emotions, immersing us in the chaos of Indian traffic, in the violence of monsoon, in the mysticism of religions and Ganges, the sacred river. So you know exactly what he means when he says that "The Maldindia jumps on you, there is and walks you in."
Then, with a change of perspective, realize that the same thing also applies to the journey, once you have done it you have it on us, always stay with you. Because travel becomes memories and we are nothing but memories. Remember that.
And if you have the opportunity, do not miss this show on India, but above all on the essence of travel as a way of being, of living, of hearing and understanding the world.
