Raise your hand who never had to deal with the unpleasant consequences of jet lag traveling. Muscle pain, insomnia or excessive drowsiness, slow memory and appetite swings are the most typical inconvenience of jet lag, caused by an imbalance between its biological clock and the time of the country in which it went. A natural phenomenon, but that can disturb the holiday, especially if short-lived.
Fortunately it is enough to take some simple remedy, which I experienced in person in my travels, in order to be able to rest as much as possible during the journey and get to destination fresh and relaxed, ready to enjoy every moment of the agonized holiday! And you have advice against jet lag? If yes, leave them in the comments at the bottom of the post.
- Always bring with you an eye mask and ear plugs that will make your flight more comfortable and restful,
- Wear comfortable and wide clothes to feel free in movements, from take-off to landing.
- If possible, choose a flight that allows you to sleep a whole night as soon as you arrive at your destination, so you can quickly recover tiredness.
- Drink often: in the cabins the air is always rather dry and it is easy to dehydrate, so it is important to introduce many liquids. Yes to the water, no to alcohol: although it seems that it can help sleep, it can actually disturb sleep and it can even make you snore!
- Take some stretching or walk along the cabin, at least every couple of hours.
- Management counts! After landing, it is advisable to stay awake a little more and wake up later during trips to the west. If you’re heading to the East, don’t do small hours and wake up a little earlier.
- Once in flight, set the clock with the time of destination;
- Adoption of local uses for meals time immediately;
- Experience as much as possible the new environment in which you are: instead of closing in your room, spend time outdoors.
- Synchronize on the sunlight and try to stay awake in the afternoon or in the evening, even if you would like to go to sleep.
