We walk Path of the gods, the most famous panoramic trekking of the Amalfi Coast, considered one of the most beautiful routes in the world.
Admire it from the sea or the surrounding mountains, Amalfi is lovely from every perspective. Not at all is the main gateway to the so-called Land of the Gods. So it is called the territory of Agerola, nestled between the Lattari Mountains at 600 m above sea level and crossed by 60 km of the suggestive Path of the Gods.

Path of the Gods
This real balcony Amalfi Coast connects Bomerano to Nocelle (Positano) offering always different panoramic views: from the cliffs to the coast, from which you can see Amalfi, Positano, up to Punta Licosa, Capri and Ischia, deep valleys with streams, rocky walls, chestnut woods and medieval hermits.
The name, perhaps a little pretentious, is due to the magnificent views of the sea and the beautiful villages of Vettica Maggiore (Praiano) and Furore located just below the path. From above you can also admire the slopes overlooking the sea, extremely steep and wild, of Mount Sant’Angelo ai Tre Pizzi, the highest peak of the Sorrento Peninsula.
Beyond the name, the Path of the Gods is an extraordinary monument to the boundless obstinacy and the efforts of the local population who, over the centuries, has been able to colonize even the most impractical places of the Amalfi Coast.
Today shepherds, woodlands and farmers still use the path that crosses hundreds of dry walls, vegetable gardens, forests, lemon groves and old vineyards stolen from the mountain. Next to the route, there are caves and terraces that descend from the cliffs to the sea and deep valleys, cliffs overhanging on which turn crows, seagulls and falcons pilgrims.
The route winds totally at the altitude, between 630 meters on the sea level of Bomerano at about 430 meters of altitude of Nocelle and can of course be routed in both directions, although the most recommended (as well as decidedly less tiring) is that from east to west, which takes place in a slight descent.
In this way, in the morning you will walk with the sun behind you, while in the afternoon you can admire the sun set right behind the island of Capri.
Other trekking Amalfi Coast
The Path of the Gods can actually be considered a real hiking system. In addition to the main and most popular route, among the villages of the Amalfi Coast there is an articulated lattice of paths of various difficulty that allow hiking enthusiasts to reach even the most remote locations.
Circuit Three Calli
The Circuit Three Calli departs and arrives in Bomerano climbing Monte Tre Calli and from the summit offers a 360-degree view that stretches over the Gulf of Salerno, the Sorrento Peninsula, Capri.
Another ring circuit is the one called Convent of Cospiti, which from San Lazzaro reaches the remains of a medieval convent and enjoys a view over the coast.
Other paths above Amalfi are the Borgo degli dei dei and the Corona degli dei dei, both near Bomerano and with a view overlooking the coast.
General Route
The itinerary of the General takes its name from the remains of the Castle of General Avitabile, located in a green park placed as a terrace on the coast in San Lazzaro. From here the view reaches Punta Campanella, the natural marine area located in front of Capri.

Nearby San Lazzaro also winds the itinerary of the Castle: Via Miramare leads to the Punta di San Lazzaro and the Castello Lauritano, from which you can enjoy an extraordinary panorama that embraces Amalfi, Ravello and Punta Licosa in Cilento.
And if the walk has put you appetite, do not forget that the area of Agerola is also renowned for its specialties and gastronomic traditions: provolone del Monaco dop, smoked provola, fior di latte, salame e pancetta, biscuit bread and Agerola taralli, which you can taste in the surrounding trattorias.
